Hot! Hot! Hot! Not just the weather turned hot, the games were awesome too.... The Ducks vs Mighty Canaries.....the Canaries were looking for their first ever two game win-streak in well....forever! They jumped out to a 4-1 lead and had the Ducks reelling. But the Ducks rallied and flew to a 13-7 win. With that they are in first place with 6 points while the rest of the pack are jammed up with 2 and 3 points. Interesting..... Logan`s Runners vs They Flying Squirrels...this one looked really interesting on paper. To say Logan's Runners win by a score of 11-6 is an upset....it may have been true to a degree, but this team looks good. The Squirrels were once again flat...similar to the Bruins, they are suffering the champion hangover. AJ`s Gang vs Vanier Voodoo...8-7 upset win for AJ's Gang. After this great performance their next win may not be called an upset either. The Gang held an 8-5 lead, but the Voodoo boys made a frantic push to bring it to within one goal. Game of the day to be sure! Mighty Canaries get second franchise win ever with 6-4 decision over AJ`s Gang.... Vanier Voodoo 8-5 over The Flying Squirrels....the Squirrels had their capatin in the net once again and he got quite a work out from the Voodoo shooters. The Flying Squirrels came out flat and were road kill early on. They did give a bit of a push back to keep it close. But the odds were in Vanierj`s favour....unlike Mike Pelletier`s in the city of sin. The MIghty Canaries were in a close game that could have gone either way vs AJ`s Gang. It was tied up 4-4 and then with three minutes left the birds took a 5-4 lead and held on with a buzzer beater to make the final 6-4. AJ`s Gang seemed to run out of gas near the end. Logan`s Runners vs Ducks....Logan in the net against his former team (Ducks renamed from the One Man Wolf Pack) was looking to be brilliant. However Logan`s team of recruits are looking to be a fairly strong outfit. The Ducks worked hard but found it difficult to penetrate the wall of defence put up by Logan`s Ruuners and they ran as runners do...hard and well. Logan`s team held 2-1 and 4-3 period leads. The Ducks came out strong in the third period and tied it up 4-4, went down 5-4 and then took down the barn door for a 9-6 victory. Hope they took Logan out to Ralph`s for a beer! The Opening Saturday afternoon games feature new teams and a wild 5-5 tie..... One Man Wolf Pack vs AJ`s Gang....the Pack fresh off an appearance last Saturday in the Winter Session final were back and hungry. They survived an early onslaught and then took over to take an 8-3 lead after two periods. AJ`s Gang (look for a team name change in the coming week) started out with a flourish to take a 1-0 lead...but they are just learning the OBBHA game and one of their errors was to take shifts that were too long. As every OBBHA veteran knows, the non-stop OBBHA game for an hour will burn you out early if the team does not get the short changes working. However in the third period the Pack and the Gang tied the period 1-1 as the Gang played a more structured game with better changing. 9-4 was the final. The Game of of the afternoon! Vanier Voodoo vs Logan`s Runners.....Logan in the net was fabulous as was the Voodoo goalie. It was a hard fun with lots of hard work and great plays. The score went back and forth until it was 5-5 early in the third period. Then Voodoo captain Mike Pelletier was set-up on a two on none for an empty netter by Dave McCloskly....and then Mike was overheard saying ``Voodoodoo`` as he missed the wide open cage. Unbelievably no more goals were scored in this highly entertaining draw. The Flying Squirrels vs Mighty Canaries....the defending champs came back soaked in champagne but carried on their solid play into the opening game of the Spring Session. The Flying Squirrels took advantage of the Canaries short bench and jumped into a 7-2 first period lead. Their team captain Brandon Kennedy jumped into the net as the back-up and played like a number one! 16-7 This is the new Play-off format for the Saturday Spring Session.... Week 1 to Week 5- Round Robin
Week 6 to Week 8 - 2 divisions - 1 (1st,3rd, 5th) 2 (2nd,4th,6th) X-over between divisions

Class act and the new Champions of the Saturday WinterSession for 2012........... 3rd seed goes to Gang Green for their 8-3 win over the Thunderhawks. Creavtive passin and goaltending was the difference in this one. 5th seed goes to Weekend Recruits for their 9-6 win over Grey Zone....the Recruits fihished off the sessiion with 4 play-off wins in a row. There was a hat-trick in this game (for Grey Zone) and hats rained down on the French Palace floor. 7th Seed game was a great run between the defending champion Vanier Voodoo and the hungry Mighty Canaries....11-8 for Vanier Voodoo to take the 7th seed. The Canaries never stopped running and this made for an interesting match, The Championship game! One Man Wolf Pack vs The Flying Squirrels....a barn-burner was expected. Both teams were super composed and kept emotions and give-aways in check. The Squirrels took an early 1-9 lead and held onto it until the final seconds of the first period when the Pack tied it up at 1-1. Another early goal in the second period for the Flying Squirrels put them out in front 2-1 in eerliy similar game as that of those Rangers-Sens play-off games. The Pack tied it up at 2-2 midway through the second and then a big push by the Squirrles gave them a two goal lead at 4-2. However the Pack came back with a big push on their own to close the gap to 4-3 and that is how the second period ended....it should be noted that each goalie made several great saves in the closing minutes of that second frams. The stage was set for the third period.....the Flying Squirrels scored about 5-minutes in to grab yet another two goal lead at 5-3. The Pack worked extermely hard to generate offence in the last 10-minutes and finally got a penalty shot goal to make it 5-4 with 3-minutes left. 2-minutes left. one minute lefft......the Pack pulled the goalie and finally the captain of the Flying Squirrels scored the empty netter to salt it away 6-4. Great game by both teams. Nice to see the Flying Squirels grow from a last place club to a championship team over the years in the OBBHA!. Congrats!!!!!
