(works out to $35 per player including HST)
Helmet and gloves are mandatory
The tournament is set-up for a max of 20 teams.....
Hurry! Email John or tell him personally asap to secure a team spot
-teams have already secured their spot by paying as tournament posted on website earlier this year as it always sells out fast!
-then register team online www.obbha.ca asap and pay prior to Dec 1st
Tournament will be capped at 20 teams, the tournament format will ensure there are 4 over-all winners (like every year)
-last year we opened up the tournament to the women's teams too...so we can accommodate 4 to 8 teams in the women's and 12-16 for the Men.
-so after the three round robin games your team will be put into the play-off pool that best represents that skill level
Thanks to those who have paid already.
-if you have not paid, please come to the OBBHA gyms (see map on website) and pay John Struthers in person or electronically as optioned above.
-you can come in on Saturdays through Thursday (see league schedules for hours John will be there)
-make sure you register your team online asap and then make the $245 cash or online payment to ensure you participation
The tournament is organized to maximize your exercise and fun.
Hence the 7 player including goalie max roster rule.
Survival of the fittest as you play 30-minute games of the non-stop action OBBHA style of play (same rules you see on website).
OBBHA has 2 gyms that you will be playing your games in.
There is a Velcro on the stick policy rule that is strictly enforced for the 2 wood floor surfaces
-again we will be providing this as stated above
And note that shots must be waist or lower and include the follow-through (not shoulder as in previous years)
- Slap shots are not allowed (see next note below)...*New Spring 2017
- Any stick above the waist for wind up, follow throughs will result in loss of possession. (if a player does this multiple times he will be warned that the next time a penalty shot will be awarded).
- -High sticking the ball over the shoulder (not waist) is a penalty shot...and the play is whistled dead immediately on contact with the ball
- Penalties = Standard hockey infractions will result in a quick whistle for change of possession (6 feet is awarded between ball and oponents stick before play is whistled in)
- Half-court is given after a goal.
- To start a game or period or after a goal is scored, the designated team takes the ball behind their own net and waits for the Game Manager to whistle the `game on`. The defending team must be on their own side of the centre line until the play is whistled for `game on`. At this point the defending team may cross the centre line to forecheck and the offensive team can pass, shoot or run with the ball. The play is live on the whistle!
- Regular hockey sticks are permitted. However for the French Palace gym (wood floor), there is a White Velcro policy. The stick must have a full strip of White Velcro from heel to toe so that none of the bottom of the stick is exposed ...*New Fall 2017 and built into the Winter 2018 cost per player/team as this strip of Velcro will be made available by the OBBHA at every game as it is a mandatory requirement. This is not required for the Blue Gym for tournaments which has a rubberized floor.
- An orange ball is used...water-filled for the Xmas Classic tournament for less bounce (all gyms) and a mid-range softness ball in the French Palace for any league play for better ball control skills on the bigger surface.
Looking forward to once again as is tradition....another day of exciting ball hockey and lots of laughs!
Cheers!
John Struthers/Jason Prevost and your OBBHA Friends and Staff
