Terrific Tuesday Women

FIRST GAME FOR THE 2017 WOMEN'S TERRIFIC TUESDAY FALL SESSION IS TUESDAY,  SEPT 26

The OBBHA fun ends tonight for the women until September. Sad? No! A Terrific pair of sessions is something ball hockey in Ottawa for women can build on. Keep playing and enjoy the great game!

Terrific Tuesday March 28 Women's Division Highlights:

Boomers vs Lucky Pucks...Boomers = Melanie Lavergne. Lucky Pucks MVP's = Nicole, the goalie Anne-Marie and for the best smile in the OBBHA Jenny! Lucky Pucks were looking for some luck around the net. Boomers were set to boom a few in. It was the Boomers who were lucky as they got most if not all the bounces. Boomers win 16-2.

Ninjas vs Killer Bees...Ninjas MVP = Steph Quinn. And they had a few other special OBBHA awards. Best goal celebration = Sasha. Just Because = Melanie Dagenais. This was slated as a juggernaut offence against the Carey Price of the league. And that is exactly how it played out. The game was tied 3-3 after 2-periods and in the 3rd the Ninjas threw the kitchen sink at Melanie Simard and her goaltending was out of this world. The French Palace crowd were wowed and were in awe as impossibly no goals were scored. The Ninjas got their pic after the game as the champions once again. Oh and the Killer Bees MVP? = Melanie Simard of course!!! 3-3 tie.

Hades Goddesses vs Dragons...Hades Goddesses MVP = Karine Hebert the goalie. Dragons MVP = Stephanie Dagenais the goalie too!. The Dragons were keen to see how their improved game would stack up against the most structured team in the league. The Goddesses scored early but the first period ended 1-0 as the Dragons did not let that early goal bother them. The rest of the game was played at a fine pace as the Goddesses had a little more fire power in the end. Hades Goddesses win 6-1.

Ninjas! The winter Session Champs:

Terrific Tuesday March 21 Women's Division Highlights:

Dragons vs Killer Bees...the Dragons were dreaming of Jamaica mon, but focussed on the task at hand with a...shorter bench. The Killer Bees were at the wrong end of some wonky bounces as the fire breathers took 2-1 and 3-1 period break leads. The 3rd continued to be kind to the beasts. Dragons win 6-1.

Hades Goddesses vs Boomers...the Goddesses jumped to a 2-0 first period lead, but the Boomers won the 2nd period 2-1 to cut the Goddesses lead to 3-2. The 3rd was all Goddesses 3-0. Hades Goddesses win 6-2.

Ninjas vs Lucky Pucks...just an all around fun time playing ball hockey. Two teams enjoying themselves! So nice. Oh and yea, the score. Ninjas win 10-1.

Reminder no games on Tuesday, March 14...play resumes Tuesday, March 21

Terrific Tuesday March 7 Women's Division Highlights:

Dragons vs Boomers...the Boomers were up 3-0 after ome period and made it 4-0 before the sleeping Dragons awoke and roared to tie things up 5-5 in the 3rd. From there the Boomers could not put out the dragon fire out as those Dragons completed this wild comeback with 3 goals to take it on momentum alone. Dragons win 8-5.

Lucky Pucks vs Killer Bees...the first goal of the game is some kind of mystery...but the lucky Pucks got it and were up 1-0 after one period. 1-1 after 2-periods and the late in the game the Lucky Pucks were up 2-1. But the Killer Bees shocked the crowd with goals with 4-minutes left and 2-minutes remaining to win in dramatic style! Killer Bees win 3-2.

Ninjas vs Hades Goddesses...the battle for first place! If the Goddesses win they would hold their own fate for the championship for the final two games remaining on the schedule. If the Ninjas win they will take it hands down! The Goddesses were up 1-0 and 3-1 at the breaks...but found themselves tied 4-4 and looking for the winner in the final minute of the game. It was the Ninjas scoring with 22-seconds left to win a thrilling match. Sasha Pellerin Gardner had the game winner, but only on a rebound of her own after Karine Hebert in the Goddesses net had made the save of the game. Sasha celebrated like nobody attractive was watching and then the team had a collective group hug after the game as they knew they had been tested once again by the well-structured/never say die Hades Goddesses club.  Congratulations to both teams for yet another great game between the two teams. Ninjas win 5-4. And hats off to the Ninjas for another Championship!!

After Hours Show: At yet another beverage establishment that is partnered with the OBBHA, a group settled in to cheer on the Habs and discuss the nights action from the Men and Womens division on Terrific Tuesday. Bets were paid off as a goal was score by a particular player on a particular goalie in men's action, but a female and male were involved. Unsung stars were picked from the Ninjas win. General niceties were exchanged amongst some so-called "inappropriate" humour. Half stories were told as the attention span was about as close to a ball hockey players capacity after playing high intensity OBBHA matches...therefor incomplete yarn will have to be retold at future gatherings (March 25 it seems when the Sens and Habs clash after the next OBBHA Super Saturday).

Terrific Tuesday February 28 Women's Division Highlights:

Killer Bees vs Boomers...everyone had no idea who would win this one. But the Boomers came out strong and held 2-0 and 4-1 period break leads. The teams tied the 3rd 2-2. Boomers win 6-3.

Dragons vs Ninjas...the Dragons played well against the top team. They once again focussed on their man to man (aka woman) defensive coverage and the showed some offence too. The Ninjas were up 4-2 and 7-3 after the period breaks but the Dragons did have their chances including some break-aways that had balls just roll away from them. There was an ice-cream bet that someone scooped for this reporter...and the winner scored to win the treat as her shot found all mesh. Ninjas win 10-5.

Lucky Pucks vs Hades Goddesses...the Lucky Pucks are playing so much better each week. This time they were up 1-0 after the first period and only down 2-1 in the second. In the 3rd the Goddesses pulled away to break open a very close game. Hades Goddesses win 8-2.

Terrific Tuesday February 21 Women's Division Highlights:

Hades Goddesses vs Killer Bees...a key game both teams for the top positions. A 1-1 tie after two periods had both teams panting and wanting more. The Bees buzzed around and left the hive once too often in the 2nd and the Goddesses pounced for two goals for a 3-1 lead. The Bees went looking for more honey in the 3rd and only found a Goddess alone who put away the only goal of the final period. Hades Goddesses win 4-1.

Lucky Pucks vs Dragons...the Dragons won the the first two period by scores of 2-1 each and added to that 4-2 lead in the final period to make it 5-2. But the Lucky Pucks scored to late goals to close to 5-4 to make thing interesting and the French Palace crowd was intrigued. But the Dragons held the fort for the win. Dragons win 5-4

Boomers vs Ninjas...The Boomers won the 3rd period 4-3. But the Ninjas had already built up a sizeable lead as their league leading offence was in high gear for this one...some say they never came down from the Valentines Day Sugar Massacre last week on the bench. Ninjas win 13-6

Terrific Tuesday February 14 Women's Division Highlights:

Valentines Day! The Highlight was playing and getting some Valentine goodies from the OBBHA!

The delightful Taylor Chapman showcases the Valentines Gifts the OBBHA will be presenting to everyone playing in the Terrific Tuesday Women’s Division:

Killer Bees vs Ninjas...the 1st place Killer Bees were excited to see how they would stack up against the heavy favourites. And of huge significance if the Bees could win this game they would hold the championship in their own hands (they could lose on game, including the last game of the session vs the Ninjas, and still win it all!). The Bees had the French Palace crowd slack-jawed as they buzzed out to a very lead with 2 hard working goals. The 1st period ended and the Ninjas nursed their stings and came out flying like mutant turtles. They scored 3 to take a 3-2 lead before the Bees tied it up 3-3. By the end of the 2nd it was 5-3 for the Ninjas who felt a little better about themselves and regained some confidence. The question for the 3rd period was, did the Bees have any more sting left? Alas the Ninjas were not about to let the momentum slip away as they pulled away...some reports came in that they snuck some of that OBBHA Valentine candy they received into themselves for a sugar boost? Ninjas win 8-3.

Dragons vs Hades Goddesses...the Dragons played their best game ever. The Goddesses were pleasently surprised and played their hearts out (please excuse the pun on this night of love) to keep up. 1-1 after one period. Another great period by both teams left the Goddesses up 3-2 heading into the 3rd. The Dragons were unlucky not score again but full value to the Goddesses for taking it home with a pair of goals. All the women were Goddesses tonight, but the Hades Goddesses got the win 5-2.

Lucky Pucks vs Boomers...for two period the Lucky Pucks were in this game only down 3-1 and 4-1 at the breaks. The Boomers used their veteran savvy in the final period to pull away for a big win. Boomers win 8-1.

*After Hours Show:...as much as the Women's Division was a focal point as it was Valentines Day (see the Game Recaps for the Women's Terrific Tuesday league), some Voodoo players and Megalomaniacs were out for some good cheer at one of the OBBHA local partners establishments and some very bad acting took place. At the expense of Struts this group may or may not be nominated for the upcoming Oscars. A group acting class may be offered if no nominations come forward. Struts was not available for comment, but a fake news outlet reported that he said no banquet will be held in their honour. A day of love carried well into the early morning hours of the next day extending a fun filled evening with the OBBHA

Terrific Tuesday February 7 Women's Division Highlights:

It was snowing so it must be Tuesday again!

Lucky Pucks vs Ninjas...the Ninjas wanted to get back on another win streak. The Lucky Pucks made it difficult for them to be sure. The Lucky Pucks are improving with every game and these stiff tests against the best team seems to bring their level of game up as well as their enjoyment level as they learn from these meetings. The Ninjas did win but the sweat level and compete level was high! Ninjas win 8-2.

Boomers vs Hades Goddesses...the Goddesses used their passing game and were mindful of the Boomers sharp shooters. The Goddesses played an almost perfect well structured game that is now their signature. The first period ended 2-1 for the Goddesses. In the 2nd there were no goals and the outcome was still in doubt. But the Goddesses finally wore down the Boomers with their ball control and score 3 in the 3rd period. Hades Goddesses win 5-1.

Dragons vs Killer Bees...the nightcap on this blustery night. A short nip of a night-cap as benches were light but all very light-hearted. A big storyline was that the Killer Bees had nobody in the nest as they had all their Bees on the floor. The game was going to be all about goaltending with "Sugar" Dagenais and Melanie Simard in the starring roles. The Bees Stung once in the first and again in the 2nd for a 2-0 lead. The Dragons were buzzing in the 3rd looking to score while the Bees played "kitty bar the door" in front of Simard as their wings were getting tired. Simard gets yet another shut-out! And there were 4 stars out in front of her! Killer Bees remain in first place with an unusual win!! Killer Bees win 2-0.

Terrific Tuesday January 31 Women's Division Highlights:

Boomers vs Dragons...Dragons goalie Stephanie "Sugar" Dagenais had her bell wrung in the warm-up but gutted it out to play the game. The Boomers were not so sweet as they pelted her with as many shots as they could. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie. The Dragons were up 2-1 after two and then were up 3-1 with 9-minutes remaining. Of note was one of the goals for the Dragons...persistence pays off as Karen Veltri shot and came in and grabbed her rebound not once but twice before finally getting it past Sarah in the Boomers net. However the Boomers had the French Palace noise level up to jet engine sonic boom level by scoring 3 late goals including the winner with 2-minutes left on the clock! The Dragons did just miss in the final minute on a hard shot that whizzed by the post. Boomers win 4-3

Killer Bees vs Lucky Pucks...would Melanie Simard post a 3rd consecutive shut-out? That is the record on the men's side, so the French Palace crowd was anxious to see how everything would play-out. After one period the dream was still alive and the Killer Bees had scored for a 1-0 lead. The made it 2-0 before the Lucky pucks broke the shut-out bid for tying the record...and it was on a roof-mommy backhand shot that created quite a stir in the crowd. Next big item was to see if the killer bees could get the win and continue their undefeated season to date! After giving up that goal one wondered if the Killer Bees would be deflated, but seconds later the killer Bees captain Shirley Macleod took matters into her own hands and scored from the point for a 3-1 lead. The Bees had some killer in them as they increased the lead to 4-1 by the end of the 2nd. The Lucky Pucks showed some spunk by scoring to make it 4-2 and kept the Bees off the score-sheet in the final period. Killer Bees win 4-2.

Hades Goddesses vs Ninjas...a highly anticipated match for sure! Perfect Rivals? Books have been written on the subject. Teams build their success on playing their rivals. Habs/Leafs. Super Heroes face off vs each other before seeing the light to work with one another to face evil. Ok this game was a fun one between two teams that like one another and respect the game. However Karine Hebert had her game face on in the Goddesses net. The Ninjas were up for this test and came out flying....but wait! Back to that Perfect Rivals question...since this is the Women's league lets pick two great rivalries that women love. Nina vs Lily (Black Swan) and Maverick vs Iceman (Top Gun)...c'mon! Who doesn't love Top Gun!! Fine, back to the game: The Goddesses were first to break the "icewoman" for a 1-0 lead early in the game. Then later in the first they made it 2-0 to get the fans buzzing including some Killer Bees in attendance. The Ninjas used some of their quick strike capability to tie it all up 2-2 by period end. This was a very well played opening period and had the French Palace fans wanting more for the second period! The Goddesses excited the fans even more by scoring two goals in 30-seconds at the midway point of the match. Could this be the first ever Ninjas loss in their OBBHA history as a franchise? 5-2! Ninjas got one to make it 5-3 before the end of the second. In the 3rd it was a frantic pace!! The Ninjas potted two to tie it all up 5-5 with eight nerve racking minutes remaining. The Ninjas made it 6-5 with 5:30 left, but the Goddesses never gave up as this spirited affair went down to the wire. And they tied it up 6-6 with 1:20 remaining!! 6-6 tie Whew!

Terrific Tuesday January 24 Women's Division Highlights:

Boomers vs Killer Bees...a 0-0 tie until the final minute and a half as the Killer Bees rocked the French Palace with the winner and an insurance marker in the final seconds, That is the second consecutive shut-out for Melanie Simard who looks like Carey Price in international competition these days! Killer Bees sting for a 2-0 win.

Ninjas vs Dragons...Stephanie Dagenais was tested big time in this game by the Ninjas. The Dragons played a very good pressure game to keep the Ninjas on their toes. The Ninjas were up 6-0 in the 3rd and wanted to score more but were thwarted by the Dragons hustling pressure game and "Sugar" in the nets. The Dragons won the 3rd period 1-0 and kept the Ninjas to their lowest score in a long long time. Seems a defensive system can create some doubt in the Ninjas arsenal! Ninjas win 6-1.

Hades Goddesses vs Lucky Pucks...The Goddesses were shut-out last week and were very eager to score . They potted 4-goals in the 1st and 2nd periods to coast to the win. But the Lucky Pucks did give them a hard run for their goal production and played well in a 3rd period 0-0 tie. Hades Goddesses win 8-0.

Opening Night for Terrific Tuesday, January 17th!

Killer Bees vs Hades Goddesses...an upset to start off the new session!. The Goddesses showed they could score in the last session and had complete game in them night in and night out. Not that they did not match their Game On! kind of play tonight...the factor was in the Killer Bees net. Melanie Simard was simply outstanding in getting the shut-out on opening night. One save she made in a seated position with the glove was one of a kind! Killer Bees with the upset win 3-0.

Ninjas vs Boomers...the Boomers played well. Its just that the Ninjas were on their game too and that is tough to beat. Ninjas were full value for their ball control and hustle that produced yet another win for this dynasty. A big 4-0 lead in the opening period paved the way for the win. Ninjas win 7-2.

Dragons vs Lucky Pucks...the Lucky Pucks scored an early goal an added one per period. The Dragons were unlucky to score as they hit a couple of posts and had some nice shots that were generated by some nice pass plays. Stephanie "Sugar" Dagenais made her Dragon debut after helping out the Ninjas the hour before. Lucky to be good and lucky around the net produced the win. Lucky Pucks win 3-0.

*********************************************************************************************

Terrific Tuesday December 6 Women's Division Highlights:

Boomers vs Lucky Pucks...The Lucky Pucks have developed their skills over the course of this session. And they were looking for their first point ever. The Boomers on the other hand wanted a win to finish the session at .500! So after one period the score was 1-1 and the same after two periods! At 2-2 the Boomers shattered the French Palace crowd by scoring with 3-seconds left in the game to achieve their even record and leave the Lucky Pucks heart-broken! Still a very good game for both squads as they think about turkey and good times until January 17th when the Winter Session starts up again. Boomers win 3-2.

Ninjas vs Killer Bees...the Ninjas are the champs! But they still wanted a 0 in the loss column. After one period they were up 1-0 only to find themselves down 2-1 in the second period. The Ninjas had to work extremely hard to get back the lead before the second ended, but they did with a 4-2 lead. In the end the Killer Bees should have realized they had sewn some doubt in the Ninjas minds, but the Ninjas did run away with it in the final frame. The Ninjas can pass and shoot, but are beatable by a team that follows through with work ethic, good goaltending and a team system. Congrats to the Ninjas for their 8-3 win...and the Championship!

Hades Goddesses vs Dragons...after two periods the Goddesses who are the runner ups for this session, were up 1-0 in a goaltending battle. Finally they broke free in the 3rd....a couple of 3rd period goals salted it away. Hades Goddesses win 3-0.

Terrific Tuesday November 29 Women's Division Highlights:

Dragons vs Killer Bees...0-0 after one period. The Dragons scored the only goal of the 2nd for a 1-0 lead. Then in the 3rd the Killer Bees scored two to take a 2-1 lead before the Dragons scored a dramatic goal to tie it all up. 2-2 Final.

Hades Goddesses vs Boomers...Goddesses were able to score from some impressive play-making as their chemistry builds. However the Boomers kept the crowd in it with some timely goals. Hades Goddesses win 10-5.

Ninjas vs Lucky Pucks...Ninjas moved the ball well and the Lucky Pucks were plucky enough as the really tried to make sure they had defensive coverage...however they lost their "man" just a little too many times as the Ninjas were able to create quality scoring chances that they capitalized on. Ninjas win 10-2.

Terrific Tuesday November 22 Women's Division Highlights:

Dragons v Boomers...The Dragons played their best game of the session. They were up 2-0 and 3-0 at the period breaks. Mel in the Dragons net met a ton of shots and some boomers to boot! Her game in the net gave the Dragons a boost of confidence that they used in this very hard running game. Wonderful entertainment. Finally with 3-minutes remaining the Boomers broke the shut-out bid. Dragons win 4-1.

Lucky Pucks vs Killer Bees....another game where a team played their best game yet. Lucky Pucks pulled the trick this time. They were up 1-0 after one period and at one point were up 2-0 in the 2nd before settling for a 2-2 tie heading into the 3rd. The Killer Bees completed the comeback and were exhausted for it as both teams played their hearts out. Killer Bees win 5-3.

Ninjas vs Hades Goddesses...the Ninjas were trying out a potential future goaltender. This rookie was impressive and had the French Palace fans behind her. She only lost her shut-out bid with one minute left in the game! The Ninjas scored two goals a period and a well played match. Ninjas win 6-1.

Terrific Tuesday November 15 Women's Division Highlights:

Killer Bees vs Boomers...off the get-go the Boomer were on their game and were up 2-1 after one period. Then the Killer Bees left the nest and flooded the offensive zone and were rewarded for 4-goals in the 2nd period and were up 5-3 heading into the 3rd period. The Boomers rebounded for 3 quick early goals in the final period for a 6-5 lead. The Killer Bees tied it up 6-6 and it looked like that would be how it would end, but the Boomers scored thrilling winner with only 29-seconds remaining in the game. Boomers win 7-6.

Dragons vs Ninjas...The Ninjas held 3-0 and 5-0 period leads behind the steady goal-keeping of Stephanie Dagenais (yes the hat-trick goal scorer in the "Struts OBBHA Challenge Series" played on November 6th involving the men's league teams! However the Dragons did net two goals in the 3rd to win that period 2-1, but that big lead prevailed for the powerful Ninjas. 6-2 Ninjas win.

Lucky Pucks vs Hades Goddesses...ok, so the Hades Goddesses are now an impressive team. They play the OBBHA product like no other now. They run extremely hard and play a team game that tests the endurance of every player they match up against. Tack on the superior goaltending of Karine Hebert and you have formidable opponent. The Lucky Pucks should be proud of their game against a team that has been together for quit some time now and that has chemistry on their side now. The Lucky Pucks look like an early Goddesses team....full of energy and willing to get better as a team. This time the Hades Goddesses win 7-2.

Terrific Tuesday November 8 Women's Division Highlights:

Hades Goddesses vs Killer Bees...a spare Goddess anyone? Laurie Reinhart potted two goals as a spare to power her adopted team to victory. Killer Bees scored in the 3rd period to ruin Karine Heberts shut-out bid. Hades Goddesses win 6-1.

Lucky Pucks vs Dragons...the Lucky Pucks were looking for some luck around the net. They opened the scoring to a roaring ovation, but found themselves down 2-1 after 2 periods. And that is how it ended! dragons win 2-1.

Boomers vs Ninjas...the night-cap! Boomers came out a strong and were full value for a 1-0 lead. Then the Boomers played their patented defensive style and it was a gem! They capitalized on the counter attack midway through the 2nd period for a 2-0 lead! A late goal by the Ninjas with under a minute left in the 2nd closed the period at 2-1. The French Palace crowd was under a spell and hung around for final period to see if the monumental upset would happen (who really cared about the U.S. at this point anyways). The Ninjas scored 2 quick ones to take a 3-2 lead but the Boomers replied to tie it at 3-3. Late in the 3rd the Ninjas worked extremely hard and were rewarded with 2-goals for a 5-3 lead. The Ninjas survived the scare. Ninjas win 6-3.

The Struts OBBHA Challenge Series...November 6th Inaugural Match:

All Mesh (Saturday) vs Tsunamis (Monday)...All Mesh is undefeated in the Saturday A-Div with almost half their team very solid female performers. Tsunamis is a 9-year veteran team of the OBBHA in the Monday Division (they have seen Blue Zone Gym action and in recent years the French Palace Gym). For this first Challenge Game the game was tied 1-1 after the 1st period as both teams felt each other out with some end to end action. In the 2nd period All Mesh got their vaunted passing game going and had Tsunamis chasing enough to take a 4-1 lead until a late 2nd period goal by the Wave brought the score to 4-2. In the 3rd it was that All Mesh passing game that took over for the most part despite some spirited efforts on offence from Tsunamis. Andrew Gowing in the All Mesh net made key saves to keep the Wave from making All Mesh feel too uncomfortable with their game.  Of note Melanie Dagenais was injured and her sister subbed in for her. Stephanie Dagenais of the Saturday Newbies played up front with Struts and scored the hat-trick to the squealing delight of the French Palace faithful...even a helmet was dropped on the floor to salute her 3-goals in lieu of hats! In the end these two teams enjoyed a game that featured contrasting styles and lots of great action. Passing/ball control vs hustle/determination. The All Mesh recipe prevailed 8-4.

This first game of the Struts OBBHA Challenge Series was a success and paves the way for more to come! Here are the two teams that trail-blazed this exciting initiative: (pic to come shortly)

Terrific Tuesday November 1 Women's Division Highlights:

Killer Bees vs Ninjas..."Sashnakov" otherwise known as Sasha Pellerin Gardner, the wing woman to anyone who likes to party/play ball hockey or jump between the pipes. She back-stopped the Ninjas to a big win the day after Halloween. Saturday's All Mesh goalie Terry Cleroux may be worried about his number one spot!? Ninjas win 8-1.

Dragons vs Hades Goddesses. The Goddesses played super ball hockey for two periods to build a 5-0 lead. The Dragons were just as good in the third period to win that period 1-0. Karine Hebert in the Goddesses net was almost unbeatable. Hades Goddesses win 5-1.

Lucky Pucks vs Boomers...a very well played match. The Boomers used their tenacity around the net to score 4 goals. The Lucky Pucks were a little unlucky not to score in this one. Boomers win 4-0.

Terrific Tuesday October 25 Women's Division Highlights:

Lucky Pucks vs Ninjas...the Lucky Pucks showed some skill around the net to get a very nice goal and Karine Hebert in the back-up role made the Ninjas work for their two points. Ninjas win 5-2.

Boomers vs Hades Goddesses...both teams ran and worked as hard as any two teams could. So it was an appropriate tie. 2-2

Dragons vs Killer Bees...the Dragons had a mysterious goalie in their net tonight and she did well! The Killer Bees had the offence going while their goalie Veda Loknath carried a shut-out bid late into the final period before the Dragons scored a beauty into the top corner. Killer Bees win 5-1.
Terrific Tuesday October 18 Women's Division Highlights:

Boomers vs Dragons. By the midway point of the game in the second period the game was high scoring at 4-4. Then the teams settled into a very tight checking match. The Boomers score the only two goals after that and held off the Dragons attack with extra efforts that had everyone exhausted after this excellent run. Boomers win 6-4.

Killer Bees vs Lucky Pucks. Killer Bees were winning 2-0 for a very long period of time....from the early stages of the first period to near the end of the game. It appeared the Lucky Pucks would love their 3rd straight game by the same 2-0 margin, but they scored their first franchise goal to the roar of approval from the French Palace crowd. Killer Bees score the final insurance goal with 2-seconds left in the game. Killer Bees win 3-1.

Hades Goddesses vs Ninjas. The Goddesses played their hearts out vs the Ninjas. The Ninjas has the snipers going as they potted goals at key moments after wild flurries of end to end rushes by both teams. A very fine effort from everyone. Ninjas win 6-0.

Tuesday October 11 Women's Division Highlights:

Boomers vs Killer Bees to open the night. The Killer Bees came out with an opening push in the first 10-minutes but Karine Hebert, who was subbing in for the Boomers, held the fort and enabled the Boomers to get untracked. The Boomers scored 3 in the second half of the first period before the Killer Bees responded with one. From their the Boomers held the advantage on shots on goal and cruised to a win, but those first 10 minutes were the key to the win. Boomers win 9-2.

Ninjas vs Dragon. Could the Dragons slay the Dragon? The top team and defending champion Ninjas were tested in this one. The Ninjas broke it open early for a 2-0 lead but the Dragons never quit and kept up with the fast pace. The Dragons had great ball pursuit and defensive coverage save for a few breakdowns that cost them goals. The Dragons even started to create offence with some passing of their own vs the very pass heavy Ninjas. A very good run for both teams. Ninjas win 6-1.

Hades Goddesses vs Lucky Pucks in the night-cap! The only goals of the game came in the first period. The Goddesses scored they by virtue of their signature hard work ethic. They were up 2-0 after one period of play. The Lucky Pucks played another wonderful game but could not score their first franchise goal. Another 2-0 loss but they are playing a very good team game and everyone in the French Palace is looking forward to when they break the ice with their first goal. Hades Goddesses win 2-0 as Karine Hebert gets the shut-out.

They're Baaack!

Opening Night Terrific Tuesday October 4 Women's Division Highlights:

Killer Bees vs Hades Goddesses: The Killer Bees scored the first goal of the new fall session and were up 1-0 after one period. The Goddesses score the only goal of the second period so the French Palace crowd was on the edge of their seats for the third and final period. It appeared a tie was imminent, however a perfect screen was set by Jenna Kennedy of the Hades Goddesses and a long shot slipped past a dismayed Veda Locknath in the Killer Bees net. Karine Hebert then shut the door for the last 6-minutes of the game in the Goddesses net. Hades Goddesses win 2-1.

Ninjas vs Boomers: The Boomers came out strong and had bursts of offensive energy the Ninjas look to be in peak shape for this session. For the Ninjas a little ballet show took place as some soft shoeing had the fans buzzing about it...not sure who the Black Swan was. Ninjas begin their title defence with an 8-1 win.

Dragons vs Lucky Pucks: The Dragons were the favourites but the Lucky Pucks gave them a game. The rookie Lucky Pucks played extremely well but could not score on the Dragons netminder Melanie Desgagnes. The Dragons put a couple in and that was enough in this well played defensive battle. Dragons win 2-0.
